Communication is an important part of any organization, including the Center for Community Health Development. The goal of the communication team is to effectively publicize the Center and its activities with messages that are appropriate to the specific channel or method of communication. At the Center there are two general foci for communication activities: internal audiences and external audiences. Internally, the communication team facilitates information-sharing across PRC components to help increase awareness of all Center-related activities and to help researchers and staff better leverage their resources.

Despite the importance of communication within the Center, a majority of communication activities are directed toward external audiences. Sstudents, public health professionals, lay community members, and researchers are kept up-to-date on our training seminars through e-mail flyers and announcements in local publications. Our newsletter is also a valuable tool for communicating research methodologies, challenges, successes, the Center’s growth, and our current activities to an audience that is interested in public health or participates in public health work or research. Finally, our web site provides current information on public health in general and the Center’s activities to a broad audience.

In an effort to capture the spirit and impact of our work in the last six years, we have recently produced an annual report, The Center for Community Health Development: Accomplishments 2001-2007. This report includes a summary of our research and activities since the inception of the Center, as well as lessons learned and directions for the future.
